About Us
Gainsborough Furnitue & Resource Centre - a little about us.
Founded in 2005, GFRC is presently managed by a Project Coordinator, assisted by a number of dedicated volunteers working in the warehouse, driving our van or helping with the collection and delivery of furniture.
As a measure of the work done by GFRC, during 2009, we supported 250 households with 1288 items of essential furniture. During 2010 GFRC has supported 300 households with 1300 items of furniture. this is a 20% increase in the number of households supported. Without the assistance of GFRC, many of these families may have lived without essential items such as beds, chairs and table, that the rest of us would have taken for granted. The enjoyment of working with GFRC comes not only from doing a worthwhile job well, but also from the smiles on the faces of most of the beneficiaries we can help.
The beneficiaries are referred only by registered agencies in the local area; with agencies working together to support those who we know genuinely need our help.
Being able to recycle good quality furniture to give to those who require it, not only helps those in need, but also helps to protect the environment especially when thinking of landfill and wasted resources.
